Mr. Tony J. Schmidt is the founder of Pacific Risk Solutions, LLC.

Mr. Schmidt graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with Accounting emphasis from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

Mr. Schmidt’s insurance career began as an Accountant with Grocers Insurance Group, a regional insurance company in Portland, Oregon. He then moved to Honolulu and shortly thereafter began a similar position with AIG Hawaii office and was quickly promoted from Accountant to Accounting Supervisor and then to Assistant Manager. His responsibilities included GAAP and SAP Financial Reporting, budgeting, investment accounting, corporate tax preparation, captive insurance management and strategic planning.

His insurance career began as an Accountant with Grocers Insurance Group, a regional insurance company in Portland, Oregon.  He then moved to Honolulu and shortly thereafter began a similar position with the AIG Hawaii, the local Hawaii office of an international insurance conglomerate.  He was quickly promoted from Accountant to Accounting Supervisor and then to Assistant Manager.  His responsibilities included GAAP and SAP Financial Reporting, budgeting, investment accounting, corporate tax preparation, captive insurance management and strategic planning.

From AIG, he took a position with the Hawaii Insurance Division (“HID”) as Chief Captive Insurance Examiner.  In his position with the HID, he was responsible for the financial surveillance and examination of all licensed captive insurance companies and also the review of all captive insurance company applications and business plan amendments.  In 2002, he was selected as the HID’s Employee of the Year.

His next opportunity was to develop the Hawaii office of RiskCap, an independent captive management consulting firm.  In his position as Vice President, he was responsible for the oversight, feasibility and formation of Hawaii-based captive insurance clients along with the ongoing business development of the Hawaii portion of the business.  He also assisted in the Cayman Island operations of the organization.

Mr. Schmidt holds the designation of Associate in Risk Management, (ARM). He has been involved in the Nevada Captive Association and the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council and has been Director and Secretary of the organization. He is currently Director and Vice President of the FSM Captive Insurance Council. He has spoken on numerous captive insurance and risk management related topics at insurance and captive insurance industry events at National and International venues.
